Dec 08 In December 2022, developers Steven Tey and Dom Eccleston introduced ShareGPT, a Chrome extension designed to simplify the process of sharing ChatGPT conversations. Instead of taking multiple screenshots, users can install the extension, engage with ChatGPT, and then click a newly added "Share" button to generate a unique URL for the entire conversation. This link can be shared directly, and when posted on platforms like Twitter, it provides a visual preview of the chat, enhancing the sharing experience. The tool gained popularity as ChatGPT's user base rapidly expanded, offering an easy way for users to showcase the AI's responses.

ChatGPT users have generated over 700M images since last week, OpenAI says
Apr 03 OpenAI's upgraded image-generation feature in ChatGPT, launched on March 25, 2025, has rapidly gained popularity, with over 130 million users creating more than 700 million images within a week. The tool's ability to produce realistic Studio Ghibli-style images contributed to its viral success, particularly in India, now ChatGPT's fastest-growing market. However, this surge in usage has strained OpenAI's infrastructure, leading to service slowdowns and product delays as the company works to scale up capacity.

OpenAI has updated ChatGPT with a memory feature that allows the AI to remember details from users' past conversations, enabling more personalized and context-aware responses. Initially rolling out to Pro and Plus users (excluding certain European regions due to regulations), this feature can be turned off or used in Temporary Chat mode for privacy. The memory is designed to work across text, voice, and image interactions, aligning with OpenAI’s goal of making AI more helpful and adaptive over time. Future availability is planned for Team, Enterprise, and Education users.

OpenAI is addressing a bug in ChatGPT that allowed users registered as minors to generate explicit erotic content, contrary to the company's content policies. This issue came to light following TechCrunch's testing, which revealed that the chatbot not only produced graphic material for underage accounts but, in some instances, encouraged users to request more explicit content. OpenAI confirmed the bug and is actively deploying a fix to prevent such responses, emphasizing that their Model Spec restricts sensitive content like erotica to specific contexts such as scientific, historical, or news reporting.
OpenAI is fixing a ‘bug’ that allowed minors to generate erotic conversations
The incident follows OpenAI's February 2025 update, which made ChatGPT more permissive on sensitive topics by removing certain warning messages, aiming to reduce "gratuitous/unexplainable denials." However, this change inadvertently compromised safeguards for younger users. Notably, while OpenAI requires users aged 13 to 18 to obtain parental consent, the platform does not verify this during sign-up, allowing minors to access ChatGPT with just a valid phone number or email address.
